We’ve found a policy to consider that suits our nature-reliant adventures.

The Middle Fork Valley Tour is for those who want a full day of snowmobiling. This is a guided snowmobile tour that takes in even more scenic views and trails than our Ridge Runner Tour and also includes a wonderful lunch. A premier destination for this excursion is our private Selkirk Powder Ranch on the banks of the pristine Priest River, which meanders more than 4,000 ft in elevation below our Summit Lodge.

Middle Fork Valley Tours run once per day at and require at least 2 guests (such as 1 driver & 1 passenger) in order to run.

Why are guided snowmobile tours with Selkirk Powder Guides so fun and unique? How about the fact that you’ll begin your snowmobiling tour at the top of a ski area? And a big ski area at that—Idaho’s largest! Your adventure begins with us after you check in at the Reservations Desk promptly at 8:30 am, and then we’ll whisk you up a chairlift from the base of Schweitzer Mountain Resort and guide you to our summit operations lodge where our carefully maintained fleet of snowmobiles is located.

With your guide in the lead, you’ll drive your snowmobile on groomed and ungroomed trails, stopping at spectacular areas to take photos and enjoying snacks and beverages while also learning about some of the rich natural history and lore of our very special area. After returning to our Summit Lodge and reviewing maps of where you’ve toured and perhaps some awesome photos, you’ll once again ride the ski lift back down to the village and take a last stop at our reception area.

So if you find yourself at Schweitzer and are looking for some real outdoor fun, look no further than our snowmobile tours! No prior riding experience is required. Bring the entire family or your small group, and have some fun on the tops of the mountains just like the skiers do!

Our domain is just off the back side of Schweitzer: 188,000 acres in Priest Lake State Forest. We ride hundreds of miles of groomed trails and logging roads that skirt along summit ridges with amazing views or drop into thick and unspoiled forest. Wildlife is abundant, and it’s not uncommon to spot moose, bunnies, and other critters during our tours.

Our trails aren’t up high like they might be in Colorado or Utah: our elevations range from 2,600 – 6,650 ft, so catching your breath is easy.

All models can accommodate a passenger and feature key switch ignition, tall windshields with mirrors, and heated hand grips. They’re well-maintained and ready for the trails. Experienced riders will recognize the quality, and first-time riders find they’re easy to learn on and very comfortable to ride.
