Heli Skiing

We Fly YOU up into the deep Pow!

Come experience refreshing, deep powder with us in the sweet spot of America’s Northern Rockies, where geography and snowy weather patterns combine to make a skier’s and rider’s paradise.

We operate heli skiing tours in the Selkirk Range which is world-famous for its reliable, deep snowpack. Powder days are plentiful and yours to savor as you join the elite few who understand the quality and value of heli skiing in this pristine and beautiful wilderness area that’s so easy to get to–on the U.S. side of the border.

Heli skiing with us consists of a full day out in the pow, so you’re getting great value out of your tour. We also take off directly from Sandpoint Airport, which is so convenient to reach from Spokane or Coeur d’ Alene. Once you’ve completed your morning safety briefing, we’re headed up and out as you fill your day with plentiful powder runs and vertical. Lunch is served during your tour, and as we wrap up late in the afternoon you’ll be anxious to sign up for your next heli powder day with us—it’s that good!

You can purchase individual seats, or even charter the helicopter for your friends and family. For private charters it can be just a few of you or up to ten.

Heli Skiing Facts:

Season: March 2nd, 2019 through April 7th, 2019

Terrain: Unspoiled Idaho State Forest land, consisting of everything from alpine cirque bowls and powder fields, chutes and glades to covered tree runs

Snowpack: Reliable and consistent. We draw moisture from the north and south, so we’re usually in the path of storm systems all season long. That equates to over 300″ during an average season, with a stable snowpack averaging about 120+ inches in depth holding from Feb thru April (measured at 6350′, deeper at the higher elevations)

Safety: Selkirk Powder is a licensed Level II Alpine Ski Outfitter, and also operates a professional division of National Ski Patrol. Our ski and snowboard guides are well seasoned and specially trained

Helicopters: We fly Bell 407’s, Eurocopter A-Stars, or Bell 205’s because they’re powerful and have great speed as well as lift capacity

FBO Location:  Sandpoint, Idaho, just over an hour’s drive from Spokane International Airport

Fun Fact: Selkirk Powder Guides is the only guide service in the United States that offers all three: Heli Skiing, Cat Skiing and Snowmobiling tours. And everything launches right from a convenient base co-located out of Schweitzer Resort in Sandpoint, Idaho. We’ve been leading backcountry tours in the region for 15 years, and enjoy introducing our guests to the snowy adventures they’ve always been dreaming of.
