Come Sample The Epic Snowmobiling Tours At Selkirk Powder
Why are guided snowmobile tours with Selkirk Powder Guides so fun and unique? How about the fact that you’ll begin your snowmobiling tour at the top of a ski area? And a big ski area at that, Idaho’s largest!
Your adventure begins with us after you check in, and then we’ll whisk you up a chairlift from the base of Schweitzer Mountain Resort and guide you to our summit operations lodge, where our carefully maintained fleet of snowmobiles is located.
With your guide in the lead you’ll drive your snowmobile on groomed and ungroomed trails, stopping at spectacular areas to take photos, enjoy snacks and beverages, while also learning about some of the rich natural history and lore of our very special area.
After returning to our summit lodge and reviewing maps of where you’ve toured and perhaps some awesome photos, you’ll once again ride the ski lift back down to the village, and a last stop at our reception area.
So if you find yourself at Schweitzer and are looking for some real outdoor fun, look no further than our snowmobile tours! No prior riding experience required. Bring the entire family or your small group, and have some fun on the tops of the mountains, just like the skiers do!
Fun fact: Selkirk Powder’s snowmobiling area encompasses hundreds of miles of trails and logging roads within the 186,000 acre Priest Lake State Forest.
We Offer Two Types Of Tours:
Ridge Runner Snowmobile Tours
A perfect snowmobiling tour for those who only have a few hours to play, or may be new to snowmobiling. This 2-hour snowmobile tour takes in our trails with incredible views of Lake Pend Oreille and around the headwaters of the Middle Fork of the East River.
If time allows, we may dip partially down into the Middle Fork valley home to moose, bobcats and all manner of wildlife.
3 tours daily: 8:00 AM, 11:00 AM & 1:00 PM
Middle Fork Valley Snowmobile Tours
Designed for those who want to spend more time snowmobiling. This is a 5-hour snowmobile tour that takes in even more scenic views and trails, and includes a wonderful lunch.
A premier destination for this snowmobile excursion is our private Selkirk Powder Ranch on the banks of the pristine Priest River, which meanders more than 4,000 feet in elevation below our summit lodge.
Location: Just off the “back side” of Schweitzer Mountain Resort above Sandpoint, Idaho, and just over an hour’s drive from Spokane International Airport. Reception area in the village and operations lodge on the summit
Terrain: We ride on many miles of groomed trails that skirt along summit ridges with amazing views, or drop into thick forests and unspoiled wilderness. Wildlife is abundant, and it’s not uncommon to spot moose and other creatures during our tours.
Elevation: Our snowmobiling trails aren’t up high like Colorado or Utah. Our elevations range from 2,600 to 6,650 feet, so catching your breath is easy.
Snowmobiles: We ride on machines specifically built for touring. All models can accommodate a passenger and feature key switch ignition, tall windshields with mirrors and heated hand grips. They’re well maintained, and ready for the trails. And, first-time riders find they’re easy to learn on and very comfortable to ride.
Safety: Selkirk Powder is a licensed Snowmobile Outfitter. Our guides are experienced and specially trained, always balancing safe snowmobiling with maximum fun.
